(Traditional Steamed Rice Cakes)

Bahan-bahan (Ingredients)

  • 2 cawan nasi sejuk
    (2 cups leftover cooked rice)
  • 2 cawan tepung beras
    (2 cups rice flour)
  • ½ cawan tepung gandum
    (½ cup all-purpose flour)
  • 1 ½ cawan air
    (1 ½ cups water)
  • 1 cawan gula pasir – ikut manis
    (1 cup granulated sugar – to taste)
  • 1 sudu kecil yis segera
    (1 tsp instant yeast)
  • Bahan Salutan: 1 cawan kelapa parut putih & sedikit garam (dikukus sekejap)
    (Coating: 1 cup grated coconut & a pinch of salt (steamed briefly))

Cara-cara (Instructions)

  1. Kisar nasi sejuk bersama air dan gula pasir sehingga benar-benar halus.
    (Blend the cooked rice with water and sugar until very smooth.)
  2. Di dalam mangkuk besar, satukan tepung beras, tepung gandum, dan yis.
    (In a large bowl, combine rice flour, all-purpose flour, and yeast.)
  3. Tuangkan bahan kisar ke dalam mangkuk tepung. Kacau rata sehingga tiada ketulan.
    (Pour the blended mixture into the flour bowl. Mix well until there are no lumps.)
  4. Tutup mangkuk dan peram adunan selama 3 hingga 4 jam sehingga naik dan berbuih.
    (Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment for 3 to 4 hours until it rises and becomes bubbly.)
  5. Sapukan sedikit minyak pada acuan kecil. Tuang adunan sehingga ¾ penuh.
    (Grease small molds with a bit of oil. Pour the batter until ¾ full.)
  6. Kukus di dalam pengukus yang sudah panas menggunakan api besar selama 15 minit.
    (Steam in a preheated steamer over high heat for 15 minutes.)
  7. Biarkan sejuk seketika sebelum dikeluarkan dari acuan dan hidangkan bersama kelapa parut.
    (Let it cool slightly before removing from the molds and serve with grated coconut.)

  • Tekstur Gebu: Pastikan nasi dikisar sehingga halus mulus untuk mendapatkan tekstur apam yang lembut dan tidak kasar.
    (Ensure the rice is blended until perfectly smooth to get a soft, non-gritty texture.)
  • Yis Segar: Pastikan yis masih aktif; jika adunan tidak berbuih selepas 1 jam, kemungkinan yis sudah mati.
    (Ensure the yeast is active; if the batter doesn’t bubble after 1 hour, the yeast may be expired.)
  • Warna-warni: Anda boleh membahagikan adunan kepada beberapa bahagian dan letakkan pewarna kesukaan anda.
